Hangar Reconstruction

The official Dave's Hangar is under reconstruction. I'm going through all the models and making some adjustments, as well as testing them against a FlightGear 2.0 build. As models are redone they will be added back to the hangar. The hangar URL is: http://members.cox.net/davidculp/hangar.html . This hangar is using Dropbox for the model FTP server.

One of the updates I'm making is converting all the SGI graphics to PNG format, which takes time, so it'll be a few days before the reconstruction is complete.

  1. So what are the benefits of converting SGI to PNG?
Can't wait for the rest of the hangar to be completed.

  2. I get much better compression with PNG. Also, my file manager will make thumbnail views of PNG images automatically, but not for SGI images. I think (but I'm not sure) that Windows users, which means most users, have trouble working with SGI.

  3. Do you think you might be able to use the Typhoon alhpa sim model and develop it for flightgear by any chance?

  5. Just fetched the Typhoon model, and I see it's made for CFS2, so it should be convertable with threedconvert. In fact, I think I may have played around with this model at one time, but never got around to finishing it.

  6. One more reason for the conversion to PNG textures. The SGI loader in AC3D would sometimes crash while loading an SGI image. This has been happening for a couple years, and I was getting tired of it. :)

  9. I DL the other typhoon in development, but the FDM isn't definite. I find that yasim planes are harder to limit in G's and angle of attack. Maybe the typhoon is suppose to be JSB?
